KUCHING, 24 Oct: SDEC Karuna JV Sdn Bhd (SKJV) Mandrill Tech Sdn Bhd, and ServeDeck Innovation Sdn Bhd have signed a Strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at fast-tracking Sarawak’s smart city transformation through artificial intelligence (AI) and digital sustainability solutions.

In a joint statement today, the companies said the MoU exchange, held on 22 Oct during the Sarawak International Digital Economy Conference (IDECS) 2025, highlights their shared commitment to advancing the state’s digital transformation goals.

The exchange ceremony was witnessed by YB Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development (II) (Talent Development), representing YB Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, and Dato Ir. Ts. Sudarnoto Osman, CEO of SDEC cum Chairman of SKJV.

The two-year collaboration will see all parties exploring, developing and implementing digital solutions and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) initiatives across sectors such as urban mobility, public services and environmental management.

SKJV General Manager Muhammad Fa’izzul Zaidi said the partnership represents a significant step towards realizing Sarawak’s smart city vision.

“Achieving Sarawak’s smart city aspirations requires strong partnerships that combine local insights with world-class technological expertise,” he said.

He added that integrating Mandrill Tech’s strengths in AI, machine learning and cloud platforms with SKJV’s local market knowledge will enable the delivery of efficient, sustainable and inclusive people-centric digital services.

Mandrill Tech Chief Executive Officer Davent Low said the company is honoured to contribute its AI and ESG expertise to the Sarawak Smart City Initiative.

“Mandrill Tech is proud to offer our digital transformation platforms, especially Lestar ESG, along with our AI capabilities, to drive Sarawak’s smart city ambitions,” he said.

According to the statement, the MoU aligns with the Sarawak Digital Economy Roadmap and paves the way for future binding agreements, as all organization work towards shaping a smarter, greener and fully connected Sarawak.
